"But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world." - Galatians 6:14 (KJV)
The cross stands at the center of human history—a Roman instrument of torture transformed into the ultimate symbol of love. What happened on that hill called Calvary changed everything. To understand the cross is to understand the heart of God, the depth of our need, and the power of redemption.

The Seven Last Words from the Cross
Christ's Final Messages
1. "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34)
Meaning: Even in agony, Jesus modeled forgiveness. His first concern was not His pain but our pardon.
For us: We must forgive those who hurt us, even when they don't deserve it.
2. "Today shalt thou be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43)
Meaning: Salvation is by grace through faith, available even at life's final moment.
For us: It's never too late to turn to Christ. Salvation is immediate and assured.
3. "Woman, behold thy son!...Behold thy mother!" (John 19:26-27)
Meaning: Even while dying, Jesus cared for His mother's practical needs.
For us: Following Christ doesn't mean neglecting family responsibilities.
4. "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46)
Meaning: Jesus experienced the ultimate separation so we never have to.
For us: In our darkest moments, we can know God understands abandonment.
5. "I thirst" (John 19:28)
Meaning: Jesus experienced full humanity, including physical suffering.
For us: Christ understands our every weakness and need.
6. "It is finished" (John 19:30)
Meaning: The work of salvation was complete. The debt was paid in full.
For us: Nothing can be added to Christ's finished work. Salvation is complete.
7. "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit" (Luke 23:46)
Meaning: Jesus died in perfect trust and surrender to the Father.
For us: We can face death with confidence, entrusting our spirits to God.

Prayer at the Foot of the Cross
Lord Jesus, I stand amazed at the cross. That You would die for me, a sinner, is beyond comprehension. Help me never to take lightly what cost You everything. May the cross not just be a symbol I wear but a reality I live. Teach me to die daily to self, to forgive as You forgave, and to love as You loved. Let me never move beyond the cross but always live in its shadow. Thank You that "It is finished"—my salvation is complete in You. Help me to glory in nothing except Your cross. In Your precious name, Amen.
