🌙 Our Story Begins
Picture a small, dimly lit room in Jerusalem. The air is thick with excitement as ten disciples share an incredible story. Their faces glow with joy as they tell their friend Thomas, "We have seen the Lord!"
But Thomas shakes his head, his arms crossed firmly over his chest. The joy in the room seems to dim as he speaks those famous words: "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
Can you imagine how Thomas felt? He had watched Jesus die. He had mourned deeply. Now his friends claim the impossible has happened. His practical mind demands proof, and his wounded heart fears another disappointment.
Today's Scripture
"Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God."
John 20:27-28 (KJV)
⏰ Seven Days of Questions
For an entire week, Thomas carried his doubt like a heavy stone. Each morning, he saw the transformed faces of his friends. Each evening, he heard them speaking with newfound courage. But still, he couldn't bring himself to believe.
Have you ever been in a place like that? Where everyone around you seems to have an experience with God that you're missing? Where faith feels just out of reach?
Thomas didn't leave. He didn't abandon his friends. He stayed, even with his doubts, even with his questions. And that made all the difference.
✨ When Jesus Appeared
One week later, the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked, just like before. Then suddenly, without warning, Jesus appeared!
"Peace be with you," He said. Then He turned to Thomas. There was no anger in His eyes, no disappointment on His face. Only love and understanding.
"Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."
In that moment, Thomas didn't need to touch anything. The love in Jesus' eyes, the gentleness in His voice, the fact that Jesus knew exactly what Thomas needed – it was enough. Thomas fell to his knees and made the greatest confession: "My Lord and my God!"
🌈 What Thomas Teaches Us
- It's okay to have questions. Jesus didn't scold Thomas for doubting. He met him right where he was.
- Stay in community, even when doubting. Thomas didn't isolate himself. He stayed with the disciples, and that's where Jesus found him.
- Jesus knows what we need. Without being asked, Jesus offered Thomas exactly what he needed to believe.
- Honest doubt can lead to strong faith. Thomas went from the biggest skeptic to making the most profound declaration of faith.
📱 In Today's World
Maybe you're scrolling through social media, seeing everyone's #Blessed posts, but feeling spiritually dry yourself. Maybe you're sitting in church, surrounded by raised hands and closed eyes, but feeling nothing. Maybe you've prayed and prayed, but heaven seems silent.
Here's what Thomas would tell you: It's okay. Your doubts don't disqualify you. Your questions don't push Jesus away. In fact, they might be preparing you for a personal encounter that will transform your "I doubt" into "My Lord and my God!"

Help us to be honest about our doubts while staying open to Your presence.
Show Yourself to us in the way we need most.
Transform our questions into declarations of faith.
In Your patient and loving name,
Amen.
